Our Wedding Day: April 15th, 2020 Our wedding day

The only thing I’d change about our wedding day is that it could’ve lasted a little bit longer. My last post left a lot of uncertainties. There was a lot up in the air when it came to our wedding thanks to Covid. We weren’t sure if we’d postpone to next year, wait until the […]

on the gram

I love playing with light. The location could be b I love playing with light. The location could be behind a food lion next to a dumpster, but if there is good light, magic.

This was clearly not behind a food lion next to a dumpster, but you get the point.
I’m alive!! The truth is, I wasn’t using IG i I’m alive!!

The truth is, I wasn’t using IG in a healthy way. I felt like it was the end-all-be-all (is that the saying?) for my business growth and that if I didn’t use a very specific formula for creating and sharing content that I’d failed. Welp, that’s no fun. And it made me dread posting. 🥴

Hence my little two week hiatus. I am still figuring out how I want to rework my time online in a way that’s beneficial to me, to you, to the world. The last thing I want is to look back on the things I’ve shared and feel like there was no purpose.

So while I’m not exactly sure what that’s going to look like, I do know things are going to start to look different around here! And for that, I’m excited!

I’ve just been feeling like I have so much more to offer than pretty pictures of my clients (although, gahd. I love them. 😍)

So here’s a sunrise session I did at my favorite spot in Shenandoah with a couple I’ve been DYING to meet! We had so much fun pretending like it wasn’t LITERALLY 20 degrees.
✨INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY✨ To all the girl ✨INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY✨

To all the girls who have spent countless hours scrolling through Instagram, comparing.

And to all the girls who are told that being pretty will get you anywhere.

And to all the girls who stopped giving a shit and followed their dreams anyway.

You’re beautiful from your head to your toes. And you can do anything you set your mind to.
Today’s introduction is going to look a little b Today’s introduction is going to look a little bit different, because I’m tired of showing up like I’m this cutesy professional ✨boss babe✨

It’s only real sometimes. Other times, I

Cuss like a sailor
Drink too much tequila on the weekends and dance alone in the kitchen to Sarah McLachlan
Sleep in until noon (or later)
Eat pasta for breakfast lunch and dinner
Forget to pay my bills
Go to bed with a full face of makeup
Edit and re-edit and re-edit a session before I deliver it because I can’t get it right
And, finally, *the hardest one to admit* sometimes I enjoy Nickelback and Creed, okay. I’m tired of pretending I don’t. STOP PRETENDING YOU DON’T!!

I’m vowing today to show up less like a business owner and more like a Jamie Eppig. 🖤

If you’re tired of the highlight reels and unrealistic expectations too, tell me one thing about you that doesn’t fit the gram’s ideal image of perfection. 👇🏻🤘🏼

One of my favorite ways to gauge my progress over One of my favorite ways to gauge my progress over the years is to re edit photos, and I usually do this once a year when I update my website. I cannot believe how much I have improved since I photographed this couple. (And I’m so glad they trusted me, because they are the sweetest most down to earth couple ever and these are some of my favorite portraits!)

Photographers: go back and edit old photos!! You might think you’ve plateaued and fall into a funk, but I guarantee you if you go back and re-edit some old images you will realize just how much you’ve grown. I mean, I’ve re-edited some images over 3 times now.

That being saaaaiiiddd, my new website is up and LIVE, and I’m so excited to announce that I’m now offering mentor sessions.

I am so freaking stoked out of my mind to be finally stepping into the education world!! To kick things off I’ll be doing a giveaway, so keep your eyes peeled photogs for that! In the meantime, check out the education page on my website- link in bio.

Tiny weddings... let’s face it. This year we’v Tiny weddings... let’s face it. This year we’ve been shown how amazing it can be to downsize your guest list.

Here are some tips to make your intimate wedding feel just as special and meaningful as a huge celebration!

1. Don’t get lost in the lie that more people equals better. It most definitely, 1,000 percent does NOT. In fact, more people equals more responsibility, more money, and more STRESS.
2. Splurge on the things you’ve always wanted but couldn’t afford with a larger guest list- fresh florals, a stunning dress, a steak dinner!
3. Create your own traditions- there are no boundaries and no expectations. This is about two people- not 200.
4. Have a freaking party. You’re with your closest friends and family- the people that love you the most- so let loose and enjoy the freedom of being yourself on your wedding day rather than the mainstream image of a perfect bride!

While I fully understand the disappointment that so many couples have had to experience when it comes to downsizing their weddings- I hope that these little reminders can help you keep your head up- at the end of the day you’re marrying the love of your life! That is like... so freaking cool!!!
